#546 Joe Hague

Short MLB career and life…died at age 50….limited playing time because his positions were filled up by being the understudy to the likes of Dick Allen, Joe Torre, Tony Perez….also hindered by being a defensive liability….big things were sought in St Louis…huge power numbers in AA (1967) and AAA (1968)….once called up far and away best season was 1970….that year hit 14 home runs, drove in 68 runs and had .271 average…hit a career best 16 HRs in 1971 but dropped 45 points in average….a miniscule comeback for 1972 was highlighted by trade to the Reds….BA raised but playing time diminished…out of major leagues after 1974.
